WSET LEVEL 2 AWARD IN WINE – JULY 2026
Taberna will run a WSET Level 2 course in July 2026.
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for both wine enthusiasts and industry professionals. This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn a wide range of wines or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. You will gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown and the styles of wines they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you will explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

A closed-book examination of 60 minutes duration consisting 50 multiple-choice questions worth one mark each. In order to be awarded the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines, candidates must achieve a minimum pass mark of 55%.
The course will be conducted by Boon Heng DipWSET. Boon is the first wine merchant in Singapore to pass the WSET Diploma WSET 4. His also a WSET Certified Wine Educator qualified to teach up to WSET Level 3. Boon has over 20 years of experience in wine and is a permanent wine judge at the International Wine and Spirit Competition in the UK and the Decanter Asia Wine Award in Hong Kong.

WSET LEVEL 3 AWARD IN WINE
Taberna will be running our next WSET Level 3 class starting in September 2025.
The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is designed to give a thorough understanding of the factors that account for the style, quality and price of the principal still, sparkling and fortified wines of the world. The qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines with regards to their style, quality and price. This qualification provides the in-depth product knowledge required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in product selection in the retail and hospitality sectors.
The course will be conducted by Annette Scarfe MW. Annette was awarded the prestigious Master of Wine (MW) title in 2012, winning the Noval Award for her dissertation on Ribera del Duero. She is an active member of the Education and Events committee of the Institute of Masters of Wine. She consults for international companies on the business of wine. She also runs tastings and masterclasses for media, trade and consumers internationally. Additionally, Annette is a wine buyer and restaurant consultant. She is a regular member of tasting panels for consumer magazines and judges extensively at wine competitions across 3 continents. She has lived in Singapore for over 20 years.
